Fire-alarm IP communicator with backward-compatible DACT (Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter) — bridges fire-alarm panels to IP central stations while maintaining ULC-listed fire transport.

Fire-Lite IPDACT-2UD Universal IP/DACT Communicator
Fire-alarm IP communicator with backward-compatible DACT (Digital Alarm Communicator Transmitter) — bridges fire-alarm panels to IP central stations while maintaining ULC-listed fire transport.
Deployment context
Sites where the fire-alarm panel needs IP-based central-station transport but the panel is older and only outputs DACT (POTS dial-up). Common in retrofit projects converting from POTS to IP. Required by some insurance carriers reducing premiums for IP-monitored fire.
Zones, inputs & wiring architecture
Not applicable (fire communicator). Accepts DACT output from the upstream fire panel.
Communicator & monitoring compatibility
Receives DACT (Ademco Contact ID over POTS simulated) from the fire panel, transports as SIA DC-09 over IP. Backup POTS dial-out maintained. Supervised polling, FAR (Fire Alarm Receiver) compatibility with major central stations.
False alarm & reliability positioning
Supervised IP path — missed poll within 90 seconds triggers central station fault report. Backup POTS path falls back automatically. Fire-alarm events transmit on priority over normal supervision traffic.
UL / commercial compliance
UL864 9th Edition (Commercial Fire), ULC-S559, FCC Part 15. Fire-alarm-listed; do NOT use as the sole transport for a burglary system (use TL880LE or LTEM-PA for burg).
Commonly paired hardware
Fire-Lite ES-50X / ES-200X / MS-9050 fire panels · or compatible UL864-listed fire alarm panels · POTS line for backup transport · IP uplink (recommend dedicated VLAN separate from surveillance) · Fire-Lite TruInsight monitoring portal
