Ubiquiti UniFi Pro 24 PoE 24-Port Switch
24-port managed PoE+ switch with UniFi Network Controller integration — mid-tier surveillance backbone for sites already standardized on UniFi infrastructure.
Deployment context
Small to mid-commercial sites with 12-20 cameras integrated into a broader UniFi infrastructure (already running UniFi access points, gateways, or controllers). Coworking, multi-tenant office, hospitality.
Port count & PoE budget
16× Gigabit PoE+ + 8× Gigabit non-PoE + 2× 10G SFP+ uplinks. Total PoE budget 400W. Suitable for 16 PoE+ cameras at full load with 8 non-PoE ports for NVR, gateway, AP uplinks.
VLAN & management capabilities
UniFi Network Controller management (self-hosted or cloud). 802.1Q VLAN, 802.1X port auth, RADIUS. SNMP v1/v2. Simpler config UX than Cisco/Netgear; less depth on layer-3 routing.
Surveillance infrastructure implications
UniFi Network Controller provides unified visibility — useful for sites already running UniFi. Segregate camera VLAN via tagged ports. Limitations: less mature QoS granularity than enterprise switches; not recommended for sites with strict spec-compliance requirements.
Thermal / rack / power considerations
1U rack-mount. Fan-cooled (audible — IT-room placement recommended). Operating 0-45°C. 60W idle / 470W max PoE.
Commonly paired surveillance hardware
UniFi Dream Machine or UDM-Pro gateway · UniFi G5 or other UniFi Protect cameras · or 3rd-party Hanwha/Axis NVR + cameras · Tripp Lite SR42UB rack
NDAA & procurement compliance
Ubiquiti is NOT on Section 889 covered entity list (not restricted). However, some federal procurement specs require Cisco/Aruba-class compliance documentation that Ubiquiti does not provide. Verify per-project requirements.
